For Clarke & Sampson Account Executive Bill Howard, the most meaningful aspect of his work revolves around one thing: relationships. “When assisting individuals and businesses with insurance, you get to know them, understand their hopes, appreciate their concerns and make their goals your goals,” says Bill. He sees his role as a partner in helping people feel confident in their life and work, and he values all the relationships he has developed while helping others.
Bill, who has been with Clarke & Sampson for over three decades, oversees all insurance operations for the company. Additionally, Bill manages the Clarke & Sampson staff and supervises his agents’ training. “I could not be more proud of our staff,” says Bill. “We work well because we share the same commitment to integrity, trust and service to our customers.”
A native of Alexandria, VA, Bill likes to tell people he’s had just three jobs in his life: delivering newspapers as a boy, working on a golf course as a teen, and working with Clarke and Sampson after college. The strong sense of community he feels is evident in his service to local organizations. He has served as President of Belle Haven Country Club, the Boards of Inova Alexandria Hospital, The Alexandria Symphony, and New Neighbors Education. He is also active in the Alexandria Rotary Club.
A graduate of Hampden-Sydney College (B.A., Government), Bill is the current President of the school’s Washington DC Alumni Association. Bill also organizes the Sarah Howard Childhood Cancer Fund, which raises money to fund research grants in the battle against pediatric cancer.
When away from the office Bill enjoys golf as well as travel with his family.
